Our Scout Troop is called Apollo. Scouts meet as a Troop and work in smaller groups called Patrols, led by Patrol Leaders who help set the programme and make decisions that affect the Troop. The Patrol system helps young people take responsibility for themselves and their peers.
What Scouts do
Scouts are adventurous, curious, and ambitious. They take part in a wide variety of activities designed to challenge and inspire:
- 🏕️ Camping, expeditions, and outdoor adventures
- 🎯 Skills challenges and merit badges
- 🔥 Team-building games and problem-solving
- 🌍 Exploring nature, science, and the wider world
- 🤝 Helping others and making a difference in the community
Badges and Awards
Scouts work towards a range of awards:
- Challenge Awards – develop practical and personal skills
- Activity Badges – specialist interests to explore hobbies and passions
- Chief Scout’s Gold Award – the pinnacle of achievement for Scouts
Camps and Outings
Scouts take part in camps and events away from the usual meeting place, putting into practice the skills they’ve learned throughout the year. These are some of the most memorable and rewarding experiences for young people.
Our Leaders
Our Scout Troop is led by uniformed Leaders Phil Webster & Phil Jones, supported by assistants, helpers, and parents from the Parent Rota. Together, they ensure every Scout has the support, guidance, and encouragement needed to thrive.
Meetings
- Day: Tuesday
- Time: 20:00 – 21:15 (occasionally 21:30)
- Location: St Saviour’s School, Fold Road, Ringley
Occasionally, meetings may take place off-site for special activities. Parents will always be notified in advance via OSM, email, or text.
How to join
Interested in joining? Fill in the youth application form to get started.
Is Scouts right for me?
Scouts is for everyone. If you have questions about accessibility, please speak with your local leader. Adjustments can be made to ensure all young people can join in the fun on their own terms.
Cost
A basic fee covers the hire and upkeep of the meeting place. Camps, trips, and off-site activities are usually charged separately. Support is available if cost is a concern — just ask your local leader.
