📖 Our History

Pre-1983

3rd Farnworth began as Farnworth Grammar School’s own Scout Troop, building a proud tradition of forward-thinking Scouting in the district.

July 1983

The group was reformed by Graham Marrs, who served as our first Group Scout Leader until 1996. We were also the first group in Farnworth district to start a Beaver section.

1992

As the first group in Farnworth to vote to allow girls into Scouting, we proudly invested our first girls into the Scout section.

1996–2011

Phil Webster took on the role of Acting Group Scout Leader, continuing to grow the group.

2011–Present

Darren Williams became Group Scout Leader, leading the group to where it is today — a thriving community of nearly 40 young people.

🏕️ Our Group Today

Today we are a thriving Scout Group with four active sections and nearly 40 young people enjoying weekly meetings and activities. Our dedicated team of adult volunteers, supported by young leaders and parents, work hard to provide a safe, inclusive and exciting programme for everyone.

From outdoor adventures and camping to games, challenges and community activities, we aim to help every young person develop confidence, independence and skills for life.
