Badges are a fun and rewarding part of Scouting at 3rd Farnworth Scout Group! They celebrate new skills, adventures, personal achievements, and progress. Young people earn them through weekly meetings, camps, challenges, home activities, or recognised external qualifications — no pressure, just enjoyment at their own pace.

Over 200 badges available across our sections, following The Scout Association’s official programme. Badges help build confidence, teamwork, outdoor skills, creativity, and more — creating lasting memories and “skills for life”.

🌍 Challenge Awards

Core badges focused on key themes like adventure, outdoor activities, global awareness, personal development, and teamwork. Each section has its own set to complete for well-rounded growth.

⚽ Activity Badges

Exciting, skill-based badges covering hobbies and interests — sports, arts, outdoors, STEM, community, and more. Many are “staged” for progression at different levels.

📈 Staged Activity Badges

Progressive badges that build skills step-by-step — from beginner to advanced. Perfect for swimming, climbing, air activities, or digital skills.

Some map to external qualifications like Swim England — bring proof to your leader to claim the matching Scout badge!

⚙️ How Badges Work in Our Group

Earning your badge

Leaders support young people to complete badge requirements through fun activities, games, outings, and challenges. Some badges are signed off by leaders after seeing the skills demonstrated; others accept external evidence such as certificates from swimming lessons.

To claim a badge: Talk to your section leader — they’ll track progress and present it at a suitable moment.
